Asset management

I've spent some time convincing our management that it shouldn't think of what we're managing as 'records' or 'documents' or even 'content', but instead think of them as 'information assets'. It's easier to support the concept of funding the management of ASSETS than of RECORDS. And the reason they are retained isn't JUST because we are required to, but because the information they contain is an asset to our business.
